Update on Glassie/Shayna
Help Glassie Get A New Heart Valve
Hi my name is Glassie. One minute me and my sister, Shayna were running free and the next minute we were put in the back of a pickup truck, tethered to the inside and driven to be turned over to Dirk's Fund. We are always ready for a new adventure. My sister, Shayna, was infested with heartworms and is being treated. My problem is much more severe. I have a bad heart valve. I went on another road trip to Mizzou to see their cardiologist. This time I got to ride inside. I like the inside much better. After a bunch of tests, the sad faces on the Dirk's Fund people told me that it was not good. I need a heart valve replaced. Apparently, there are only 4 places in the country that do this.
I do not want to leave my sister. We have been the best of friends for over 4 years. Currently, we are the occupants of a suite at the Dirk's Fund facility. We have been told that the suite was named after another marvelous golden named Claire. Claire is no longer with us but Dirk's Fund felt that she would approve of us sleeping in her room on the couch. If you want to come visit us at the Dirk's Fund shelter, just make a right when you enter the facility and we will probably be on the couch.
Donate to Glassie's Heart Surgery, and for $25 receive a Golden Puppy stuffed animal.
Just Donate to Glassie's Heart Surgery; do not send a stuffed animal.
Dirk's Fund needs $15,000 to get my surgery done. If I do not get the surgery, I will most probably not live another 14 months. I am already showing some signs of slowing down. A couple of Girl Scout troops are raising money for me and some companies are having "dress down" days to help raise some funds. I do not personally know any of these people but if they come to the shelter, Shayna and I will save a place for them on our couch. I have been told that I have a small window of opportunity but I am going to keep this from my sister.
I am personally concerned how my sister Shayna will do by herself. You see – we have never been separated. If you want to see pictures and a video of my sister and me please find us on the Adoptables page. We are the 2 gorgeous redheads with smiles on our faces.
I would like to get started sooner rather than later. I do not want Shayna to worry too much. She has a tendency to do that. I am more of the "happy go lucky type." I need to get some sleep now, but if you can help, please either come to the shelter to visit, call us at 314-249-7624 or email us at critters@dirksfund.com.

Me and my friends heard about Glassie's problem. We came up with a great idea. For every $25.00 donation to help Glassie, one of us will go home with you.
We are very soft and cuddly and "Glassie Approved."
