Not all of our dogs can adapt to living in a shelter and do best with a foster program. For instance, many of the retired breeders that we get in, don’t have the socialization skills to be immediately be adopted and expected to be a pet. In a calm home environment, you could help these dogs learn to be dogs! Another foster opportunity would be a dog that has health requirements that need more attention than what we can give them at the shelter.
If you would like to be considered for fostering, the process will be similar to an adoption process. A secure fenced yard is a requirement with at least a 48″ fence. Please email us at critters@dirksfund.com
